California’s Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, is intended to protect the state’s drinking water sources from contaminants that may be harmful. It has recently been amended, and the change that impacts Vollrath requires more specific labeling for some of our products that contain chemicals identified in Proposition 65.
Vollrath strives to exceed regulatory requirements in the food service industry, and we are committed to fully comply with the amended labeling standard. Since we don’t produce products specifically for the State of California, all products containing chemicals identified in Proposition 65 require labeling.
It is important to know that all Vollrath products are safe and comply with consumer safety regulations. Many of the products that will carry the warning label are NSF-listed, based on FDA regulations.
In order to meet the requirements, we will apply warning labels to all products that have been identified to contain chemicals covered by Proposition 65 starting in July.
